Resolution Text: 

"WHEREAS many issues exist with regard to landfills in the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, it would prove useful to study local governmental siting of landfills and notifications provided by local governments to the state and the public upon becoming aware of proposed landfills; and

WHEREAS, it would be beneficial to study the maintenance of landfills, processes for closure of landfills, and maintenance and monitoring of closed landfills and to procure an inventory of the state's landfills both currently and historically; and

WHEREAS, a comparison of this state's experiences with landfills to the experiences of neighboring states could prove valuable.  

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES:

Creation of House study committee. There is created the House Study Committee on Landfills."
