Under this bill the municipal court of any municipality would be granted jurisdiction to try and dispose of cases where a person is charged with the misdemeanor possession of marijuana if the offense occurred within the corporate limits of such municipality. Currently such jurisdiction is limited to cases where the defendant is charged with possession of one ounce or less of marijuana. This bill would reduce this weight limit provided the charge is for misdemeanor possession.
