Mayor Hal Dally and now former Mayor Pro Tem David Keener will square off this fall in a race to be the next mayor of Georgia’s Greatest Little Town.
The board unanimously approved the $19.1 million budget for Social Circle City Schools, which includes $3,000 raises for every teacher in the system, as suggested by Gov. Brian Kemp.
There are more than 500 police departments in Georgia. One hundred twenty-nine of them are state certified, meaning they’ve implemented an exhaustive list of standards required by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.
No one spoke for or against the budget, which at the moment does not call for an increase in property taxes but does increase water rates by 2.5%.
The Social Circle City Council leveled a moratorium on new development in the Jubilee neighborhood off Alcova Drive. The moratorium will last one year or until the council can reconsider the zoning of the property.
