Expanded Vaccine Eligibility, March 10, 2021

Gov. Brian Kemp announced Wednesday that Georgia will expand vaccine eligibility starting March 15 to all people 55 and older, and people 16 and older with high risk medical conditions as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. People including medical workers, first responders, seniors and educators are already eligible to receive the vaccine. Full details on eligibility are below.

The state is also expanding its mass vaccination sites, with four more opening March 17. These sites are in Emerson, Savannah, Sandersville and Waycross. Mass vaccination sites are already open in Albany, Clarkesville, Hapeville and Macon.

Beginning March 15

  • All adults 55+
  • People with “high risk conditions” based on CDC definition, includes but not limited to:
    • Cancer
    • Chronic kidney disease
    • COPD
    • Down syndrome
    • Heart conditions
    • Immunocompromised state from solid organ transplant
    • Obesity (BMI 30 to 40)
    • Severe obesity (BMI 40+)
    • Pregnancy
    • Sickle cell disease
    • Smoking
    • Type 2 diabetes

Already Eligible as of March 10

  • Healthcare workers (physicians, nurses, laboratory technicians, EMS personnel, environmental services, etc.)
  • Residents and staff of long-term care facilities
  • Adults aged 65+ and their caregivers
  • Law enforcement, firefighters, first responders
  • Pre-K, K-12, and DECAL licensed or exempt childcare programs educators and staff
    • Includes daycare workers
  • Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their caregivers
  • Parents of children with complex medical conditions

Georgia Mass Vaccination Sites

Appointments are required. Eligible individuals can register to make an appointment via phone or TTY (text telephone). Those who show up to a mass vaccination site without an appointment will not receive a vaccine.
