During its monthly meeting Monday, Dec. 2, the Bethlehem Town Council denied an annexation and rezoning request that would have allowed for the building of a residential subdivision.
Qualifying for the November municipal elections in Barrow County runs through Friday in Winder, Auburn and Bethlehem and Thursday in Statham and Carl, and contested races have already formed in Winder and Statham.
The property is currently in unincorporated Barrow County and has sat mostly undeveloped since the family has had the property for about 20 years.
Qualifying for the municipal elections in Auburn, Bethlehem, Carl, Statham and Winder will be held the week of Aug. 19 through the Barrow County elections office. Election day is Nov. 5, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Any necessary run-offs would be held Dec. 3.
