This opportunity is open for projects that relate to planning, interpreting, and protecting sites where historic battles were fought on American soil.
Since 1990, the American Battlefield Protection Program (ABPP) and its partners have helped protect and enhance more than 100 battlefields by co-sponsoring over 600 projects in 42 states and territories. Individual project funding has ranged from $5,000 to more than $100,000. The ABPP does not require matching funds or in-kind services for these projects.
Types of projects that these grants have funded include:
- Site Identification and Documentation Projects
- Planning and Consensus Building Projects
- Interpretation or Education Projects
Eligible applicants include local, state, and Federal government entities, Native American tribal governments, educational institutions, and private non-profit organizations.
