Hartwell Heart and Soul Downtown Workshop

The Hartwell Heart and Soul Downtown Workshop will visit the City of Hartwell, GA on September 23, 2026. A reception will be held on the evening of September 22. Registered participants will be emailed an invitation to the reception with the time and location.

The workshop is part of the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute’s curriculum and is presented in partnership with the Georgia Cities Foundation. Those eligible for training certificates will receive six hours of credit towards a training certificate, even if the participant has previously completed a Heart and Soul Downtown workshop.

This six-hour workshop targets municipal officials who are interested in downtown revitalization. Workshop participants are provided opportunities to view actual plans and projects with officials from the host city discussing their downtown and neighborhood strategies, their success stories, and their lessons learned. The workshop includes formal presentations and tours of downtown areas. The class utilizes city officials and downtown practitioners who have first-hand experience with downtown development. Additionally, information regarding available resources that are available to provide technical assistance and downtown incentives are provided. 

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations after September 3 incur a $50.00 cancellation fee. Cancellations after September 10 will not be refunded. 

Lodging: GMA and the Georgia Cities Foundation have arranged a block rate of $152, plus taxes and fees, for the night of September 22, 2026, at the Hampton Inn Hartwell,1357 E Franklin St, Hartwell, GA 30643. Please call (706) 376-4700 by August 22 to book your room and receive the Heart and Soul Workshop group rate.
