The annual LMIG allocation is based on the total centerline road miles for each local road system and the total population of each county or city as compared with the total statewide centerline road miles and total statewide population. The LMIG program will allow local governments greater flexibility and quicker project delivery while allowing us to effectively administer the program with a reduced workforce and new funding match requirements.

Eligibility

For an application to be processed, the following requirements must be met:

• A local government must be in audit compliance with the Department of Audits and Accounts (DOAA) and Department of Community Affairs (DCA).
• A signed cover letter must be attached and include a completion status of the last three fiscal years’ LMIG Grants.
• A signature page must include both the local government seal and the notary seal. The application website provides a blank signature page for you to download, complete and upload as an attachment.

A local government must provide their District State Aid Coordinator with a Statement of Financial Expenditures form and invoices for Fiscal Year 2024 projects and all other prior years unless previously approved to combine funding for Fiscal Years 2024, 2025, and 2026. The forms can be attached in the LMIG Application System if they have not already been provided to your District State Aid Coordinator.

Match Requirement

Local governments will be responsible for a 10% or 30% match to obtain LIMG funds.

• The counties and cities in the River Valley Region, Central Savannah River Area, Heart of Georgia Region, and Southern Georgia Region will be at the 10% match.
• All other remaining counties and cities will be at the 30% match.

How to Apply

Starting this year, GDOT will receive and process LMIG applications electronically through their GRANTS (LMIG) Application System.
