Rural Housing Preservation Grants

The Rural Housing Preservation Grants, as part of the Housing Preservation Grant Program, provides qualified public agencies, private nonprofit organizations, and other eligible entities grant funds to assist very low- and low-income homeowners in repairing and rehabilitating their homes in rural areas.
Applicants provide grants or low-interest loans to repair or rehabilitate housing for low- and very-low-income homeowners. Rental property owners may also receive assistance if they agree to make units available to low- and very-low-income families.
Please note that applicants must have the necessary background and experience with proven ability to perform the responsibility of repair and rehabilitation of low-income housing, and that applicants are required to submit quarterly reports to show grant progress.

Eligibility
Eligible areas include:
- Rural areas and towns with 20,000 or fewer people
- Federally recognized Tribal lands
Eligible entities include:
- State governments
- City or township governments
- County governments
- Federally recognized Native American tribal governments
- Nonprofits (non-higher education) with 501(c)(3)
- Other Native American tribal organizations
- Nonprofits (non-higher education) without 501(c)(3)
- Faith-Based and Community Organizations
Match Requirement
Cost sharing or matching is not a requirement for this grant.
