The Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA), in partnership with GMA and ACCG, developed the Statewide Mutual Aid and Assistance Agreement. This voluntary agreement, authorized under Georgia law, enables public and private agencies across the state to offer reciprocal emergency management aid during emergencies or disasters.

Cities that sign this agreement can receive assistance from other participating agencies and provide aid when needed, with reimbursement for costs as permitted by law. The agreement allows for a faster and more coordinated response to emergencies within Georgia, reducing reliance solely on federal and state assistance.
