Baldwin’s city council heard to citizens’ concerns over the city’s plans for development of a 145-acre area to be annexed near Thompson and Wilbanks roads at its monthly work session Tuesday.
“Getting that from Lumpkin County, I can’t tell you how thankful we are for that,” said Baldwin Mayor Joe Elam.
In separate meetings Monday, the Baldwin City Council and Habersham County Commission could decide whether the county will allow Baldwin to annex roughly 145 acres on Thompson Road for development.
After three months of searching, Baldwin has tabbed William Anastasio as its new police chief.
The City of Baldwin and City Manager Jerry Neace are going their separate ways. Neace formerly served as mayor, resigning to take the city manager position on a four-year contract in March 2018.
While the vehicle is not brand new, Baldwin Fire Department soon will have a ladder truck to replace one that failed more than a year ago.
With an audience packed shoulder-to-shoulder inside Baldwin’s courtroom, the City Council voted 4-1 to approve a special use permit for a property along Baldwin Falls Road on Monday night.
