Gov. Brian Kemp announced Thursday, Aug. 1, that Rivacold, a manufacturer of refrigeration systems, will create 140 jobs and invest $5 million in a new facility in Buford. The jobs will include skilled positions in manufacturing.
Buford commissioners are proposing a 2019 millage rate of 12.70 mills which will result in an increase in property taxes of 7.11 percent.
The special use permit was approved with conditions including a requirement that all boat parts, junk vehicles, or equipment may not be stored outdoors and all repairs must be done inside the building.
Buford Commissioners voted recently to increase the natural gas base charge rate by one dollar per month. The increase took place July 1 and will remain in place for each of the next 3 years to help the city balance operating costs.
As required by law, Buford has conducted a self-evaluation of its services, programs, activities, and facilities on public property and within public rights-of-way, and has developed an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan detailing the methods to be used to ensure compliance with ADA accessibility requirements.
