For city largely left out of development boom, new complex could signal change

It’s a bleak shopping center just outside the Perimeter in Doraville, but developers are hoping to change that. A large-scale redevelopment could give new life to the property through a mix of retail and more than 300 apartments.

In 1909, the town’s name was changed to Colbert in honor of Fletcher Colbert. The main farm productions were cotton, poultry, corn and flour mills, livery stables, and several stores.
