The council voted in favor of adding an additional public comment session at its Tuesday meeting. If the ordinance is passed in its second reading, meeting attendees will have the opportunity to speak in two public comment sessions – one for agenda items and one for general items.
The Hampton oval has been a shelter for those escaping the wrath of hurricanes in recent years. Over 100 campers stayed at the track in 2017 during Hurricane Irma, and dozens more stayed in the camping areas during Hurricanes Florence and Michael.
