MEDIA ADVISORY: Leaders Across Georgia Gather in Atlanta this Weekend for Georgia Municipal Association’s Cities United Summit

ATLANTA – Nearly 1,000 government leaders, public servants and legislative stakeholders will gather in Atlanta January 27-29 for the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA)’s Cities United Summit.

The Cities United Summit is held annually by the GMA provides mayors, councilmembers, city staff and special guests access to advocacy tools, policy committee meetings and unrivaled training and networking opportunities.

Highlights of the event include the Sunday awards luncheon, Federal Policy Council and Legislative Policy Council meetings. The Capitol Connection Breakfast on the morning of Monday, Jan. 29 will feature remarks from Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, Georgia Speaker of the House Jon Burns, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and GMA CEO and Executive Director Larry Hanson. Gov. Brian Kemp will also address the breakfast via video message.

The breakfast will be followed by Cities United Day at the Capitol, during which hundreds of city leaders will travel from the Hilton to the Capitol and directly lobby their legislators regarding the needs of Georgia’s cities. Governor Kemp is scheduled to join the group at 10 a.m. to take a photo on the north stairs of the Capitol.
