Growth Opportunities - Rounds 4 and 5 Funding Overview

The Growth Opportunities program, supported by the U.S. Department of Labor, seeks to provide approximately $85 million to fund around 28 grants across two rounds. These grants focus on preparing justice-involved youth and young adults for employment through a combination of paid work experiences, occupational education, leadership development, and mentorship. The program aims to equip participants with the skills and experiences needed to secure unsubsidized employment or further their education, with a particular focus on youth impacted by community violence.

Program Objectives

  • Paid Work Experiences: Grants will place youth and young adults in paid work opportunities to foster career readiness.
  • Educational and Occupational Training: Participants will receive training in in-demand industries, helping them gain essential skills for future employment.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: The program incorporates leadership development and a mentorship component to support personal and professional growth.
  • Post-Work Experience Placement: The goal is to transition participants into unsubsidized employment or higher education after their program involvement.

Eligibility and Funding

Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, local and regional government entities, federally recognized Tribal governments, and independent school districts. The funding range for each grant is approximately $2 to $5.1 million, with no requirement for cost sharing or matching funds.
