Housing affordability and access continue to shape conversations in cities across Georgia. To help local leaders navigate these challenges, GMA partnered with the Georgia Chamber Foundation, Association County Commissioners of Georgia, the Georgia Realtors, and the Home Builders Association of Georgia on Keys to Housing: A Community Resource Guide. This resource guide is a practical, step-by-step framework for building local housing strategies that work.
The guide comes as housing affordability and availability continue to impact communities across the state. Georgia’s homeownership rate has declined from a peak of 72% in 2002 to approximately 64% today, while businesses consistently report that the lack of attainable housing is affecting their ability to recruit, develop, and retain talent.
The guide walks through how to bring the right stakeholders to the table, set shared goals, identify funding tools, and evaluate policy options — all grounded in real examples from Georgia communities already doing this work.
