Awards Luncheon

The GMA Awards Luncheon will be held on Monday, June 29, to celebrate the Municipal Government Hall of Fame winners, the City Clerk of the Year, Municipal Training Institute Certificate recipients, the newest Cities of Ethics and Civility and the Georgia Cities Foundation annual Renaissance and Starr Awards. The luncheon requires a separate ticket that is not included in your Convention registration.

City Attorneys’ Session and Brunch

To sign up for the City Attorneys’ Session and Brunch there is a “Special Events” registration option available for those who only want to attend the City Attorneys’ Session and Brunch on Sunday, June 28, starting at 8:30 am. You can also select it if you are registering for the entire conference and can add it to your payment cart.

Clerks Conference

Training Courses will be held on Friday, June 26, and Saturday, June 27, with the Clerks Business Meeting and Lunch taking place on Sunday, June 28.

Conference Registration

Included in your Convention Registration are the following:

    • All general sessions
    • Concurrent sessions
    • Policy committee meetings
    • Rapid fire sessions
    • District meetings
    • Annual Business Meeting and installation of officers
    • Municipal Marketplace and all meal functions taking place within the Municipal Marketplace

The awards luncheon is not included in your registration package.

Municipal Training Institute classes offered on Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday are not part of the registration package for the convention. You must register for them separately.

For meal functions included with your registration, if you have dietary restrictions and have noted them on your registration, we will make every effort possible to ensure those needs are met. If there is a plated meal function and you require a special meal, please let your server know so that they can accommodate you.

Food and Beverage Not Included with Registration

The Westin Hotel has a restaurant but will experience high volume during peak mealtimes. If you are staying across the river, please try to allow time to eat breakfast or lunch prior to coming over to the Convention Center if those meals are not included in your package for the day.

District Meetings

A District Networking event will take place on Monday, June 29, from 2:30 pm to 2:45 pm followed by District Connections meetings from 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm. The following meetings will be held:

    • Districts 1 and 2
    • District 3
    • Districts 4 and 8
    • Districts 5 and 7
    • Districts 6 and 9
    • Districts 10, 11 and 12

Parade of Flags

The Parade of Flags will take place on Sunday, June 28, during the Opening General Session. Each city represented at the Convention is invited to participate in the Parade of Flags by doing the following:

    • Bring to Savannah your city flag and flagpole holder for the Parade of Flags.
    • The flags will will be set up outside of the Governor’s Ballroom starting on Friday morning.
    • Designate someone from your city will need to carry the flag in the parade.
    • On Sunday morning prior to the Opening Session, those presenting flags should plan to arrive early in the area outside of the Governor’s Ballroom to line up.
    • Note that flags must be picked up prior to the end of the Convention on Monday.

Legislative Policies and the Election of the Officers and Board

The adoption of GMA’s 2027 legislative policies and the election of the officers and board of directors will take place during the Business Meeting on Sunday, June 28, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Your city will need to select a delegate who will vote on your city’s behalf, but all attendees are encouraged to attend the Business Meeting, not just the voting delegate.
