Leona Rittenhouse, Government Relations Associate, will provide an overview of House Bill 92, recently passed during the latest Georgia Legislative Session. This legislation pertains to the base year homestead exemption and extends the deadline by which local governing authorities may choose to opt out of the exemption. Her presentation will cover key provisions of the bill, related implications, and the repeal of any conflicting laws. In addition, she will discuss the newly introduced sales tax measure, the Property Tax Relief Local Option Sales Tax (PTRLOST), previously known as FLOST. This portion of the presentation will focus on the objectives of PTRLOST and its potential impact on local tax structures. The Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) Municipal Revenue Administration Certificate (MRAC) Program includes five classes to enlighten municipal employees and municipal officials on the different revenue sources and applicable laws in the administration and collection process. Program objectives include: Increasing the knowledge of all major components in property tax collection;  Increasing the knowledge of the different taxes and revenue sources; To equip local governments with the tools and resources needed in the administration of the various revenue sources; To increase professionalism through the empowerment of knowledge and skills; To develop skills necessary for maintaining high standards of professionalism to those we serve. Cost is $150 per class and covers materials and lunch.  These classes are ONLY for City and County officials. This training is NOT open to the public. Please note: There is a $50 administrative fee for all cancellations or changes.
