2026 Year-End Legislative Report

The Georgia General Assembly adjourned Sine Die at 1:00 AM on April 3, capping a session in which GMA tracked more than 180 bills. This report summarizes key legislation affecting Georgia cities, including property tax reform, local government audits, Next Generation 9-1-1 funding, and school zone speed cameras, and identifies which bills passed, which did not, and what each means for municipal operations.

GMA’s Legislative Policy Council (LPC) and Federal Policy Council (FPC) are the focal points for the Association’s state and federal policy efforts. These two councils combine their efforts and input of GMA’s six standing Policy Committees with its district outreach effort.
