Abandoned Motor Vehicles
This legislation would repeal the current Georgia laws governing abandoned motor vehicles and replace those laws with entirely new statutes. The new laws would require law enforcement to perform unattended vehicle cheks, attach completed check cards to such vehicles, and require the law enforcement officer to contact the Georgia Crime Information Center within 24 hours to determine if the unattended vehicle has been entered into the system as a stolen vehicle. If a law enforcement officer finds that a vehicle has been left unattended for more than five days then he or she may remove the car to a garage or other place of safety.
